Good Elf, Bad Elf

I was disappointed that it was our last day at Saint Mary's, but I know that I will have the opportunity to work with kids again in the near future. Christmas was definitely in the air and the kids were constantly talking about what the wanted for Christmas. Apparently some of these kids didn't talk to my parents about what to get me for Christmas. Some of the kids nonchalantly said they were getting lap tops, ipods, cell phones, and ugg boots. I was like " Wow, these kids are like 8 with cell phones." Definitely was different for me. Over the past 6 labs, I have learned quite a lot about myself and my teaching style. I think our professor gave us enough freedom to explore how we wanted to teach the activities effectively. That meant a lot this early in the game, and I think it has benefited everyone in the class. We were all given a chance to teach and step up and be a leader. I learned SO much about communication and being able give directions without being too wordy, which I tend to be sometimes. When you are working with Pre-K students, you really have to be clear and to the point with your instructions. I would have to say working with the Pre-Ker's was the most enjoyable for me. They crack me up non-stop and I LOVE the thought of being a part of their development into a physically active child. That excites me :)
